First game time

The other team has a bunch of girls in the Guide program at the YMCA and Saturday is bad for them.

Please contact me (email is best) if Sunday at 2PM is good OR bad.

I need to nail down the other coach and get a ref. Thanks!

Free ball: Beasly Tire is giving away free soccer balls. Swing by and say "Hey." Tell them the YMCA sent you.

  • Make sure you send lots of water with your child.
  • Make sure they are wearing shin guards.
  • They like soccer, they like you . . . do the math.
  • Don't forget the snacks. And sticky snacks are a bad idea. No giant cookies!
  • Snack suggestions: quartered oranges for half-time; juice and chips after the game.
The kids also like grapes for half and Teddy Grahams or animal crackers for after.
  • Don't forget to do the tunnel thing after the game.
  • Make sure you talk to them about the game.
  • Call me if you need anything. Rides, soccer tips, bad parenting advice, vegetarian recipes. Whatever.
I think that covers it. I'll post here if I forgot anything.

Have a great season.

Meet the Coach

Meet the coach:

Hi. I'm Aaron Klenke. I have four daughters from the age of twenty down to three. I've been coaching YMCA sports for six or seven years. Most of it soccer.

I have been playing soccer since I was tiny. It's a good game for kids and the Y is a good place to learn it.

I'm going to work on having fun playing the game and running the right way. I'm going to work on teaching them that listening to the coach is important and fun.

I'm going to try to work the YMCA core values into the game (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith).

Your kids are going to be a part of my life and I'm going to work on being a part of theirs. I have kids in high-school that I coached that still call me coach. I love that feeling. I like to think I had something to do with them being good kids.

Thanks for trusting me with them for the season.
